Going Green at Dow Rummel #1

Lev. 25:23-24. The land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants.
Throughout the country that you hold as a possession, you must provide for
the redemption of the land.

For some, going green is an abstract, yet laudable, notion best left to
corporations and committed environmentalists. A lot of us might find
ourselves attracted to the idea, but confused as to how to get started.
At Dow Rummel Village, we know that "Going Green" is an evolving process.
We've begun that process, in order to create a better community, for our
residents and our employees. In the coming weeks and months, we will share
with you some of the things we are doing here.

In our kitchen and dining areas (including employee lounges):
1. Stopped the use of Styrofoam cups and dishes. Employees have brought in
their own coffee mugs and they are cleaned here after use. In the dining
areas, real china is used rather than disposables.
2. Rather than chemical-filled window cleaners, we are now using vinegar and
water. (PS. It doesn't streak!)
3. Turning out the lights in the dining areas when they are not in use.
4. Now using recycled bathroom tissue and paper towel products.

It's a beginning and we are committed to continuing these practices and
adding others. It makes sense, it saves money and it is what we should do,
as we prepare to pass on the planet to future generations.
